About this rug

Cinnamon brown, the earthy colour in its name, forms the field of this small chobi. Beige palmettes face each other in pairs, with a larger one at the centre, and feathery leaf sprays and small rosettes fill the gaps along fine vines. A wide straw-gold border repeats the palmettes in outline, framed by a thin brown edge.

In Afghanistan, cinnamon and straw-gold wool, first spun by hand, was knotted into a pile about 1/3 inch deep. Small enough at 138 × 92 cm for a bedside, a front door or the hearth, this fine chobi needs a floor area of only about 2 × 1.5 m.
