About this rug

Three big diamond medallions are stacked down the wine-red field of this Afghan Shirwan, each stretched sideways by long arms with forked tips. The top and bottom ones are cream around a teal core, the middle one is navy, and each is centred on a small diamond with a dark X-shaped cross. Teal and gold half-medallions with hooked edges press in from both long sides. The cream main border runs a chain of hooked S-shapes in navy and teal, framed by slate-blue stripes dotted with red and cream flowers.
