About this rug

A fine chequered lattice, dark on wine red, forms the side borders and end panels of this runner, and beyond it a band of rounded red scallops edges the rug. Inside, the field carries a double file of dark octagons flecked with ivory, alternating with dark cross-shaped motifs. Near the white fringe, a strip of diagonal key shapes closes the design.

Each knot is tied by hand in natural wool, at roughly 80 to the square inch, in Afghanistan. At 288 × 81 cm, lay it in an entrance hall between 1 and 1.2 m wide, or along one side of a bed. It is filed with our Bokhara runners and rugs.
