About this rug

The pale pink border is what sets this Bokhara apart: a stepped key pattern in dark red runs through it like a maze, between dark burgundy bands of slanting leaves. The coral-red field holds 18 small guls in two columns of nine, dark octagons with ivory centres, and long dark crosses with hooked arms mark the centre line between them.

Laid lengthways beside a queen bed, this Bokhara rug runs the full length of that side, and in a passage around 1.25 m wide it leaves a margin on each side. Its coral-red and burgundy pile of natural wool, made in Afghanistan, holds 80 hand-tied knots per square inch.
