About this rug

Slanting panels, separated by navy-black diagonal bars and filled with small red lozenges, run around the main border of this rug, edged inside and out by narrow bands of small rosettes. Within them, the broad scarlet field holds five columns of small octagonal guls, with dark hooked star motifs, picked out in ivory, standing in the gaps between the columns.

Its scarlet field and hooked stars were tied in 100% natural wool, about 80 knots to each square inch, by weavers in Afghanistan. Its 277 × 194 cm can anchor a seating area where a sofa and two chairs face a coffee table. This slanting-panel design sits with our Bokhara rugs.
