About this rug

Feathery leaf sprays, set in rows like fronds, fill the rosewood-red field and lead the eye to a black eight-petalled medallion with an ivory and grey core. The field ends in scalloped arches, and pale ice-blue corner panels with matching fronds, edged in olive gold, sit outside them. The wide black border is filled with ivory, olive and rust flower heads, closed by a burgundy edge and a cream fringe at each end. India is where this wool-and-silk piece was knotted by hand.
